McDermott Vintage M12o “Odyssey” Dymondwood Pool Cue w/ Richard Hsu Custom Shaft. This cue is in remarkably fine condition. However, it wasn’t when I got it: The butt was great but the shaft was badly warped. Fortunately, master cue maker Richard Hsu agreed to build a new shaft using the original joint for a perfect fit and added an Ultraskin tip. So I think this new shaft is worth over dollars by itself. OK – the cue is a dymondwood (butt sleeve and floating points) McDermott M12 “0” made between 2001 and 2007. This model was called the Odyssey and is rare and collectable. McDermott Vintage M12o “Odyssey” Dymondwood Pool Cue w/ Richard Hsu Custom Shaft. This cue is in remarkably fine condition. I wasn’t when I got it: The butt was great but the shaft was the most badly warped used shaft I’ve ever seen. And it’s not easy to get a matching shaft with matching joint and proper diameter fit for a smooth joint when dealing with vintage McDermott cues. The solution was to use the original joint off the warped shaft to build a new shaft! And I was lucky enough to have master cue maker Richard Hsu agree to do the work. And it would be more with less additional labor of removing the joint from one shaft and putting it on the other. So I think this new shaft is worth 200 dollars by itself.
