ROSEWOOD POINTS & SLEEVE. This is a McDermott C-6 pool cue made in the period of 1980 to 1984. The McDermott C and D series cues are some of the most highly sought after cues today. In 1980, McDermott launced the C Series. The C Series consisted of 21 models all displaying beautiful hardwoods, elaborate sleeve designs and intricate inlays. The cues featured nylon wraps standard; leather, cork and Irish linen was available as an option. These cues were widely known for their artistry and superb craftsmanship. On this particular cue, McDermott used Rosewood in the points and sleeve and a Birdseye Maple forearm. The Rosewood sleeve in this particular cue is highly figured and has a beautiful grain. The Birdseye Maple has lots of eyes and character. The Rosewood points are outlined with three veneers of black, orange and Maple, which really sets off the forearm. Rosewood Sleeve & Points. Since 1975, McDermott has consistently raised the industry standard for what billiard players expect from a high quality pool cue. McDermott products use the latest technology in our state-of-the-art facility, along with the finest materials in the world. The cue has the McDermott Clover logo in the butt cap. The cue is in excellent condition, with no scratches, mark or dings in the forearm and only a few marks in the sleeve. The biggest of them is a finish blemish on the sleeve where it meets the wrap, as shown in the last picture. This is highly magnified and it is not as bad as it looks, measuring about an 1/8″ by 1/16″. The joint and rings are in great condition. The logo on the butt cap is a little faded as you can see in the pics as well. The butt and shaft roll straight, both together and apart. There are no dings in the playing area of the shaft and it is smooth as glass. The cue will need a new tip soon. The cue has an excellent feel and solid hit, very typical of the McDermott wood to wood 3/8-10 joint. Ive played with many D series cues and I think this one actually has a better feel.
